Erinle said the organization embarked on the exercise to educate young girls about menstrual hygiene, which forced some of them to miss a few days of school due to the inability to access sanitary napkins during their period.

“And a lot of them, for their period, use rags and because of that they’re ashamed, they don’t want anyone to know about it, they hide it.

“And that prevents girls from going to school, there are girls who miss these five days of the month, every month.
She notes that the organization had trained girls in some selected rural communities on how to make and manage reusable pads to eliminate the problems of inaccessibility of sanitary products during menstruation.

According to her “Girls in rural areas, have been taught on how to make reusable towels and keep them in good condition, dry them and reuse them so they don’t get infected,” she said.

The director said that raising awareness about GBV would educate them about their rights, all forms of violence and the appropriate people to seek help from when in such challenges which will make room for a healthy society.
