Tap iNitiative, in collaboration with the Open Society Foundation, is gearing up to host the highly anticipated Judicial Accountability Conference. This pivotal event is set to address pressing issues surrounding transparency and public confidence in Nigeria’s judicial system.
Scheduled to take place on March 1, 2024, at the prestigious Shehu Musa Yar’adua Centre in Abuja, the conference aims to bring together a diverse range of stakeholders from the legal profession, including members of the Bar and Bench, media representatives, and educators. The overarching goal is to collectively examine and propose sustainable solutions to the accountability challenges facing Nigeria’s judiciary.
The conference boasts an impressive lineup of speakers and panelists, with retired Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, Musa Dattijo Mohammed, slated to deliver the keynote address. Additionally, retired Federal High Court Judge, Ibrahim Buba, will preside over the panel discussions. Notable figures in attendance will include immediate past President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Olumide Akpata, legal luminaries such as J.S. Okutepa SAN, Professor Akinseye George, SAN, and other distinguished personalities.
In a press statement provided to The Metro Lawyer (TML), Mbasekei Martin Obono, Executive Director of Tap iNitiative, emphasized the conference’s significance as a platform for legal experts to collaborate on effective solutions to Nigeria’s judicial accountability issues.
