Nigeria Health Watch, the Lagos State Primary Health Care Board, and the Association of Practitioners of Community Media (APCOM) have formed a partnership to combat health misinformation by disseminating accurate health information to the public. This collaboration aims to address the harm caused by health misinformation and promote credible health information through various media platforms.
At a recent interactive session in Lagos, Nigeria Health Watch’s Program Manager, Mr. Abara Etim, emphasized the crucial role of community media practitioners in disseminating health information to community dwellers. He stressed that collaboration is essential to prevent further damage from misinformation.
Mrs. Temidayo Adewuyi, Public Health Officer from the Lagos State Ministry of Health, representing the Primary Health Care Board, praised the partnership as timely and promised the state government’s commitment to the initiative. She highlighted health advocacy as a top priority for the government.
APCOM’s National President, Mr. Abayomi Adejumo, assured that the association would make a concerted effort to promote accurate health information and dispel harmful misconceptions. He urged the partners to make the collaboration worthwhile.
Oloyede Kolawole, APCOM’s Acting Public Relations Officer, encouraged continued communication with community media practitioners and appreciated the opportunity for deliberation.
