Africa not ready to face global health challenges – Prof Oke

As advanced countries in the world are working round the clock to respond to global health challenges Africa is yet to wake up to the reality due to the lack of preparedness of African scientists, according to a Professor of Microbiology at the Fountain University, Osogbo, Osun State, Professor Muse Oke.

Oke, who is the Dean of College of Basic Medical and Health Sciences at the university said Africa was ill-prepared for global health challenges despite that the continent bearing about a quarter of the global disease burden.

He said this while delivering his inaugural lecture with the theme “From Bench to Bedside. Structural Biology, Infectious Diseases and Health Security”
